Train Excursions Return to Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad
The wait is finally over, the iconic Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad is set to resume train operations with a limited excursion schedule in September and October. After a hiatus since 2019, the historic steam engine “Polson 70” will proudly pull two vintage passenger cars, an open-air car, and a specially outfitted baggage car, serving as a concession and gift shop. The forthcoming excursions will include express trips from Elbe to Mineral, as well as an eagerly anticipated series of Whiskey Tasting Trains.

RailCycle Mt. Rainier is an exciting new way to explore the foothills of Mt. Rainier. Pedal along a historic logging railroad, enjoying forest and mountain views on our custom-designed four-seat RailCycles. Our RailCycles are easy to pedal, departing from Eatonville, on the road to Mt. Rainier National Park, RailCycle riders travel 3 miles to a scenic turnaround spot for a 35 minute layover, before the return trip.
RailCycle Mt. Rainier is a family-friendly pedal-powered rail bike excursion that offers a unique way to experience the Pacific Northwest’s rich history of logging and railroading while experiencing stunning views of glacially fed rivers and streams.

The nonprofit organization managing the railroad plans to reopen with a longer train ride, new station, and a redesigned and more inclusive museum. The company will begin offering RailCycle Mt. Rainier, rail bike excursions, in Spring 2023.
