Thank you to everyone that was able to attend last week’s Virtual Volunteer Town Hall; being able to catch up with old friends, and “meet” folks I’ve heard so much about over the past few years, and see some new faces was a treat! Volunteer Onboarding Process: During the meeting, we discussed the need to perform a basic background check for volunteers, as well as have volunteers watch some basic safety videos and take a quick quiz. I thought I’d be able to get background check information out last week – but found myself going back and forth between different options to ensure that any private information was protected and secure. To streamline the process, keep information secure, and store all volunteer-related info in one place, I am in the process of setting up an account with Volgistics. Volgistics is an online volunteer portal – it has an easy signup process where volunteers can log in and get a checklist of items to do (i.e. – background check, general safety video, etc.), can fill out emergency contact forms, sign up for work weekends, and more. I hope to complete the setup process this week and all the onboarding information out early next week. My apologies for the delay – I’d rather ensure that any private information is secure, and it’ll be great to have one comprehensive spot to manage and track volunteer requirements and activities.
Volunteer Projects & Weekend Work Party Brian, Tom, and I will meet tomorrow to prioritize projects for our first work party weekend – though they’ll likely center around projects to open the museum (cleaning, light maintenance, work on displays, etc.). I am optimistic that when our Volunteer Portal goes live, we’ll be able to host a work party weekend in short order.
